Makers of smoking cessation products put merger on hold

The merger of two British pharmaceutical giants, SmithKline Beecham and Glaxo Wellcome, has been delayed until the end of the year.  The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has asked for additional information about the companies’ smoking cessation products, the prescription product Zyban (Glaxo), and over-the-counter products Nicorette and Nicoderm (SKB).
